ITM Update: The Bears are Coming!
OK, that was clickbait. Just testing. ITM strategists are supposed to be ignoring headlines like that and keeping their mind clear!
But obviously, the bears will come at some stage, they always do. Every bull market is followed by a bear market but we just don’t know WHEN. If we knew exactly how long this bull market was going to last and when we would be going into a bear market, we would be very happy indeed.
I have been getting a lot of requests for the next ITM book on the Bear Market strategy, and to be frank I have, until now, been resisting doing it as it is such a lot of work. But I have put my nose to the grindstone and started. I have a target of publishing by November, so now that I have given a date, I have to honor it! Will keep you posted on progress.
SPY at an All Time High
Yet, the headlines mentioning that are few and far between. You are far more likely to see a headline about stocks ‘Climbing a Wall of Worry’. This is when there is a market uptrend that keeps on going up in the face of a host of negative factors. Market resilience is another term. There are currently lots of negative factors, inflation being the one that is most often worried about.
The lack of positive headlines indicates to me that we are not yet in euphoria. The SPY is creeping, not bounding, higher. Various indicators that I watch all seem benign. The VIX (Volatility Index) seems to be stabilizing between 15 and 20 which is a sweet spot.
So right now, I don’t think the bears are getting ready to knock at the door, but we have to keep in mind that they are always lurking out there in the woods!
How is the ITM Strategy going?
With SPY at an all-time high, it means that whenever you started on the ITM strategy you will be in profit. Nice.
In The Money: Australian Edition
Even though I have been trading the US market for almost two decades, I actually live in Australia. Most of the readers who have contacted me have been from the US, and others come from Switzerland, India, South America, Canada, Holland, UK, and lots of other countries. Strangely, Australians are few and far between, which I found rather a shame as the Australian stock market has been performing quite dismally since the GFC.
This week I am publishing an Australian Edition of ITM, which is about the ITM strategy but has all the extra information that you need if you are based in Australia. If you are Australian and have already bought ITM, please email me at info@HeatherCullen.com with ‘ITM Australian Edition’ in the subject line and I will let you know when you can get a free copy.
Happy Trading!
