Markets often look irrational, but there is a pattern beneath the chaos. This chapter explores how crowd behaviour, imitation, and simple incentives can produce the strange movements we see in markets every day. Before learning the ITM strategy, it helps to understand the currents that drive the market itself.

Of Monkeys & Markets
Active Funds: Investment funds managed by professionals trying to outsmart the market, though the majority end up underperforming a basic index.
Bear: An investor who believes the market, or a specific stock, is going down.
Bear Market: A fast-dropping market that typically moves like a “jagged downward sawtooth” rather than a smooth decline.
Bull: An investor who believes the market, or a specific stock, is going up.
Bull Market: A rising market that tends to climb slowly and is generally easier to trade.
Dead Cat Bounce: A brief, deceptive rally in the middle of a bear market where prices temporarily rise before falling again.
FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out): The psychological pressure that drives everyday people to buy into the stock market at exactly the wrong time—right at the top.
Index Fund: A simple, passive investment that tracks a market benchmark and often outperforms funds run by highly paid professionals.
ITM (In The Money): A simple trading strategy designed to consistently beat the market and provide a precise signal to exit calmly before a bear market hits.
Knowledge vs. Wisdom: Knowledge is knowing a fact (e.g., knowing a tomato is a fruit), whereas wisdom is knowing how to practically apply it (e.g., not putting a tomato in a fruit salad).
Market Top: The absolute peak of a bull market, characterized by euphoria, overwhelmingly positive news headlines, and everyday people giving stock tips.
The Tide vs. The Waves: A trading metaphor where the “tide” represents the true, overall direction of the market, and the “waves” represent the noisy, day-to-day fluctuations and media clickbait that traders should ignore
