Rolling over question

Please help me answer the following questions:

1) if you own SPYG, how many days before the option expires should I consider rolling it over?

2) If you are doing the regular DITM strategy, how many days before the option expirese should I consider rolling it over.

I believe her ITM book recommends 1 month. After that, the Call’s value drops quickly. It shouldn’t matter whether the underlying holding is SPYG or SPY, or whatever.
